ESIPUHE
Oman aikamme taidetta on mahdoton ymmàrtàà, ellei tunne italianista futurismia. Tàmà nàyttely, Unsi laide: Vaara, Nopeus, Uhma - Italianfuturismi 1909-1944, kertoo siità, miten futuris¬mi otti mittaa kokonaisen aikakauden murroksesta ja nivoi tai-teeseen niin poliittisen provokaation kuin kaikki aistit. Futuristit olivat myòs markkinoinnin mestareita. He kàyttivàt tehokkaasti hyvàkseen moderneja viestintàkeinoja.
Oheinen kump-paniemme lista puhuu selvàà kieltà siità kuinka tàrkeàksi futuris-minàyttely on koettu.

FOREWORD
We cannot understand thè art of our own time without knowledge of Italian Futurism. This exhibition A New Art: Speed, Danger, Defiance - Italian Futurism 1909-1944 reviews the development of Futurism, how it challenged an entire epoch in transition and served as a provocation of both political thought and all human senses. Futurists were also masters of marketing, making effective use of modern means of communication.
This exhibition has brought us here at EMMA the great privi-lege and pleasure to work with such renowned specialists as re-searcher Giancarlo Carpi and curator Marco Ancora. Without their knowledge, expertise and tireless efforts this exhibition simply would not have been possible. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to our esteemed experts as well as all our other partners: all those who kindly loaned works for display, the Futur-ism Foundation in particular, as well as other insti tu tions and supporters. The list of partners provided speaks volumes about how important the Futurism exhibition has been consid-ered. It is also a living example of the good cultural ties between Italy and Finland and a reminder of how much more reward-ing cooperation we can look forward to, in posterum. Finally, it should be stated that not only is this the first comprehensive exhibition on Futurism to be presented in Finland, but it is one of the most comprehensive to ever be put on anywhere.
